Elemental Core Strategies

Strategy Writeup

When you fight this boss, it will appear as an Elemental Core that summons a Water Elemental being that looks like Shiva, and then it also summons a Fire Elemental being that is similar to Ifrit. A Mage job would be recommended for phase 1 since you will need to use magic against it to hit its weakness. For the Water Elemental being, use Thunder based attacks or magic, while for the Fire Elemental being, use Water based attacks or magic. Keep your distance and use the mage's ability of conjuring magic so that you can keep spamming, but make sure to watch out for your MP as well.

The Water elemental being has an attack called Bubble Nova, if you block it at the right time with Soul Shield, you can learn it and use it against the Fire elemental being when it switches. For the Water Elemental, you need to try and attack it at long range with either magic or mid to long range with the Lancer job. Do not put yourself in close proximity against the water elemental being since most of its attacks are meant to keep you away from it.

As for the Fire elemental being, its attacks are to stop you from attacking it from afar and uses a projectile attack and will frequently charge towards you. I found that fighting against it with the Lancer job can counter it since I can attack from mid-range and at the same time, dodge away from its attacks at the right moment. It also has a purple-indicated attack called Scorching Flames that can be coutnered with Soul Shield. And by landing Soul Shield successfully, I can temporarily learn the attack and use it against the Water Elemental being.

Once its HP is nearing around 50%. The Elemental Core summons both fire and water beings and triggers an attack called Dance of Death. This attack is quite fast, so all that had to be done is to keep moving around in a circle and watch the attacks so that I can evade it either left or right. And after the attack ends, either both elemental beings remain in the field and attack as a team or one of them only appears and switches even faster. You have your companions here, so make sure to trigger Resonance so that they can use their abilities as well.

At 50% HP, Elemental Core will transform and merge into a Fused Elemental. When this happens, you need to be careful now with its attacks since it can instantly kill you. I played around with either the Mage or Lancer class, but most of the time, I switched to Lances since I can throw the spear at long-range and I can attack it with the basic attacks in mid-range. Patience is key here since there will be a lot of attacks coming from this boss in frenzy mode.

Take advantage of the attack called Eagle's Talon, if it doesn't catch any of you, it trips and falls on the ground. If this happens, trigger Resonance so that your companions can deal extra damage and you can punish it with your attacks before it recovers. If it also uses a purple-indicated attack called Crack where it leaps in the air, you can counter it with Soul Shield so that you can learn the ability that releases a shockwave. It deals a lot of damage to if you use it against the Fused Elemental.

Attacks & Counters

Attack Counter
Phase 1
Singular Bubble Summons a single sphere of water that has a very short range. Make sure that you are far away from the water elemental being.
Water Cyclone Puddles of water will appear below your feet, after a second, a cyclone will appear where the puddles are. You can easily dodge this by moving away from it or by dodging.
Bubbling Deluge The water elemental being conjures 5 spheres of water that moves slow. It only has a short range until it explodes or hits a surface. Keep your distance or be ready to block if ever you are about to get hit.
Bubble Nova Summons a large water sphere that moves a bit fast than the normal bubbles. You can use Soul Shield to block it and temporarily learn the ability so that you can use it against the flame elemental being.
Jeering Mire This attack is unblockable. Indicated once the attack appears and flashes in red. Dash backward to avoid getting caught by the elemental being.
Inferno Dash The fire elemental being dashes forward after it charges. Dodge roll to the sides to avoid getting hit.
Scorching Flames Conjures pillars of flame towards you. You can use Soul Shield to temporarily learn and use it. But make sure that you use Soul Shield when the flames are about to hit.
Dance of Death Both the water and fire elemental beings appear in the battlefield and conjures multiple projectiles in a straight line. Keep moving to the sides, like going around them in a circle and use the gaps in between their attacks to avoid getting hit.
Phase 2 - 50% HP (Fused Elemental)
Fuse Both elements fuse into one being and conjures two fast projectile towards you. Make sure that you are far from it and be ready to dodge roll just when the attack is about to hit.
Eagle's Talon Another unblockable attack that deals a large amount of damage if you are caught.  Indicated once the name of the attack appears and flashes in red. You can only dodge away from it. If the attack of the Fused Elemental doesn't land, it falls on the ground, allowing for counterattacks before it recovers.
Elemental Splatter Spits out water and elemental spheres that lands on the ground around it. It leaves a puddle of fire and water that damages you if you walk on it. So just move away from the AoE attack until it disappears after a few seconds.
Conflict Detonates all of the spheres that are left on the ground during Elemental Splatter. If you see this, be ready to move away from the remaining water and fire nodes on the ground.
Crack A purple indicated attack where the Fused Elemental leaps into the air and tries to hit you. Upon it landing, it releases a shockwave. You can counter this and learn the ability temporarily by blocking the attack with Soul Shield. Just make sure that the Soul Shield connects with the attack.

Elemental Core Lore

Elemental Core is the second featured boss in the second Demo (Trial) of the game. The elemtal core appears as a giant sphere that holds the element of fire and ice. It conjures two elemental beings that have a similar resemblance to two of the famous summons throughout the Final Fantasy series, being Shiva, the goddess of ice, and Ifrit, a powerful djinn with control over scorching flames hot enough to turn the whole world to ashes. The Elemental Core summons the water elemental being to deal with water-based attacks and a fire elemental being that conjures fire-based attacks. At some point, once the Elemental Core's HP drops to 50%, the elemental beings merge into one and become a monstrous being called the Fused Elemental.
