Swordfighter is a basic job in Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin. Jobs provide an archetype for the player which provides abilities and stats that are related to the job. Each job specializes in a combat style, uses different starting equipment, and gain access to special job abilities that make them more effective in combat.

 

Swordfighter Information

Swordfighters excel in both offense and defense. Balanced fighters, they possess a range of weapon skills and combo abilities that let them excel in any situation. They can also equip a shield to bolster their defenses.

The predominant focus of this job is their job action, Interception, which is essentially a buff that will absorb one blockable hit per cast and automatically riposte afterward. Once the buff has been consumed—whether through absorption or by timing out—Interception must be cast again.

Interception (and all variants) prevents the following:[1]

  • soul shields from generating MP
  • Soul Shield: HP Recovery
  • Soul Shield: MP Recovery
  • Evoker's 120% affinity Soul Shield: MP Recovery for allies.

 

Interception (and all variants) triggers the following:

  • Summoner's 400% affinity to extend buffs with soul shields
  • the parry effect of Knight (Black Knight)'s job action
  • the 600% affinity stat-up soul shield
  • Evoker's 600% affinity to refill break gauge on successful soul shield
  • Bahamut blessing effects

 

Interception still allows Soul Shield: Damage Dealt to function and allows for the break gauge to be reduced via the Counter command ability.

Interception does not trigger from unblockable attacks.

Interception potency is approximately 175. Affected by equipment effects Damage Dealt: Sword Combo Abilities and Damage Dealt: Interception.

Reduces the MP cost of sword combo abilities while swords are equipped (-100% MP cost). Due to the MP cost formula, -100% reduces down to half cost.

Also enhances the effects of Swordfighter's Wisdom (stat bonuses). The stats are doubled.

Completing these missions at the indicated level rewards limit releases, which raises the level cap for the respective job. You can collect all first-time rewards from the lowest available level to the desired level of your choice. Example: As a fresh player, setting Lv. 150 as the goal will net all first-time rewards between levels 100 and 150 upon completion.
